About Cheryl
Turning Point
In the Fall of 2011, after 20 years of a sedentary lifestyle focused on raising my son, and being immersed in all his activities, I decided to learn to play tennis (truth: I wanted the cool Honda Tennis Club jacket that could only be earned by joining the team). However I was so heavy and out of shape that in order to accomplish this in the safest manner possible, I began working with a personal trainer at the Honda Fitness Center, who was also a budding dietician. The combination of strength and cardiovascular training along with a healthier nutrition plan helped me to achieve improved blood test results, strength, and conditioning. I felt and looked better, an extremely positive, empowering feeling. In hindsight, of course I wish I had those 20 years back and had taken the time each day to dedicate to my health and fitness. Looking back, I know I could have done a better job at this. Every day, I see so many of our members working their schedules so they can get their daily dose of physical activity and social interaction while keeping jobs and families a priority -- a perfect balance and recipe for longevity. With the current state of events, it’s even more important to make your own physical, mental and emotional health a priority.
Motivation & Passion
Through the years, I’ve discovered a passion for helping others improve their health and fitness through exercise, and enjoy working with everyone, regardless of their level of physical ability. Those I love working with the most however, are those who have never participated in fitness activities, or who want to make a return to physical activities after a long period of inactivity or who have suffered an injury or endured surgery, as well as senior citizens who want to gain or maintain a healthy level of fitness. There’s no reward greater than hearing how one of your athletes feels better overall, has less aches and pains, is able to do more, or has improved blood test results and eliminated medications. Having gone through the process of inactivity to an active and healthy lifestyle myself, I feel that I can share my experiences and knowledge, and encourage others to see that the same is possible for them with a little bit of effort, commitment, consistency and belief in themselves.
