Sheri’s been doing CrossFit for all of a few months now – and she already has a CrossFit Games Open under her belt!

Something new at Torrance CrossFit!  We’re going to start spotlighting our members!  I’ve sent out a few of these member spotlights to some of our members already, and Sheri was the first one to get back to me with her answers – so she gets to be our first member spotlight!

Sheri embodies much of what we’re striving to do here at TCF.  She is a hard working, dedicated member of our community who pays attention to coaching, puts in extra time to work on things, and is walked into our gym intimidated by the notion of CrossFit.  We’re pretty thankful she gave it a shot and came to realize (like the rest of us) that CrossFit isn’t a program only Navy Seals can do.

Coming directly out of our Fundamentals class, Sheri and her Fundamentals classmates did something pretty remarkable.  They signed up for the CrossFit Games Open.  I’ve been doing this a while now, and I’ve seen people who have been doing CrossFit for over a year sometimes pass on the Open because of one reason or another.  In my opinion, that’s a pretty remarkable thing to do – and I think the experience was something she’s glad she did.

How did you find Torrance CrossFit?
Groupon- I wanted to try a “lite” class 🙂

What was your first impression of CrossFit and how has that changed?
First impression-Intimidating.  However, each time I came, I made new friends and found a community where athletes encourage one another and celebrate each other’s accomplishments.

What’s your favorite thing about Torrance CrossFit?
The coaches, their programming and the members! Oh, and that the movements can be scaled to my ability!

What results have you seen?
An increase in strength and a greater awareness of what I eat.  My mind has exploded learning new skills & technique….I like that the coaches constantly check and correct my form.

What’s your favorite Torrance CrossFit memory?
The Open Intramural competition….brought me to tears many times.  Happy tears because someone gave it their all. I was blessed to witness the true camaraderie of the box.
